How to choose a research peptide supplier

Quality varies widely between suppliers, and the label on a vial tells you very little. These are the six criteria that let you judge one objectively — and the red flags to walk away from.

Judge a supplier on evidence, not marketing. Every credible research peptide supplier can be assessed against the same six criteria — and the ones that matter most all come back to independent, verifiable, batch-level testing.

The six criteria

    Independent third-party testing

    The supplier should send samples to a named external laboratory, not rely on in-house claims. Look for HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity from a lab you can name.

    In-house or unnamed “testing”, or a purity figure with no lab behind it.

    Batch-specific Certificates of Analysis

    A COA is only meaningful when it corresponds to the exact batch you receive. Testing should be per batch, with a batch or task number that ties the report to the vial.

    One generic COA reused for every order, or no batch reference.

    Results you can verify

    The best suppliers let you confirm results on the testing laboratory’s own website — so you are trusting the lab, not a PDF the seller produced and could have edited.

    A report reference or link that checks out on the lab’s own site.

    Walk away if

    A PDF only, with no independent way to confirm it.

    A clear purity benchmark

    Look for a stated minimum purity — commonly ≥99% — backed by a report and an identity check, not a vague marketing phrase.

    Transparency and reputation

    A credible supplier is open about sourcing and testing, has genuine independent reviews, and is clear that products are for research use only.

    Walk away if

    No verifiable reviews, hidden sourcing, or consumer-use framing for research chemicals.

    Proper handling and dispatch

    Products should be supplied lyophilised in sealed vials, with sensible storage guidance and reliable dispatch.

    Poor packaging, no storage guidance, or unreliable fulfilment.
