A certificate is only worth anything if you can confirm it somewhere the seller does not control. Here is how, what it proves, and what it does not.

Verify a report number

Works for any supplier's certificate, not only ours.

This sends you to Janoshik Analytical, an independent laboratory. We do not hold their records and we cannot confirm a result on their behalf. That is the point of an independent certificate: the check has to happen somewhere the seller does not control.

What a certificate proves, and what it does not

It does prove

  • That an independent laboratory tested a sample and what it found.
  • The identity of the compound in that sample, by mass spectrometry.
  • The proportion of that sample which was the target compound, by HPLC.
  • How much compound the tested vial contained by mass.
  • Which production run the result belongs to, and when it was tested.

It does not prove

  • That your particular vial came from the batch that was tested. That depends on the supplier being honest about which report belongs to which stock.
  • That the material is safe, or suitable for any purpose. It is an analytical result, not an approval.
  • Anything about sterility, endotoxins or contamination unless those tests are named on the report.
  • That the seller is legitimate. A real certificate can be attached to the wrong product by a dishonest supplier, which is why the batch number has to match.

How to check one, step by step

  1. 01

    Find the report or task number

    Every genuine certificate carries a number that ties it to one test on one batch. It is usually printed near the top alongside the date. A report with no number cannot be checked and cannot be tied to the vial in your hand.

  2. 02

    Go to the laboratory, not the seller

    Enter the number on the testing laboratory’s own website. If the seller can only offer you a PDF they produced themselves, you are trusting the seller, which is the situation a certificate is supposed to remove.

  3. 03

    Check the compound and the batch match

    The report that comes back should name the same compound and the same batch as the vial. A number that resolves to a different product, or to nothing at all, means the document you were shown was not that laboratory’s work.

    Read identity before purity

    Mass spectrometry confirms the vial contains the compound named on the label. Purity by HPLC tells you how much of the sample is that compound. A purity figure without a confirmed identity is a number about an unknown substance.

    Check the date

    A certificate describes one production run at one moment. An old report reused across new batches tells you nothing about the material you received.

When a certificate should not be relied on

  • The number on the certificate does not resolve on the laboratory’s own site.
  • The same certificate appears against several different batches or products.
  • No independent laboratory is named anywhere on the report.
  • A purity percentage is quoted with no report behind it at all.
  • The report confirms purity but never confirms identity.
  • The certificate has no date, or a date long before the batch was sold.

Common questions

How do I verify a peptide Certificate of Analysis?

Take the report or task number printed on the certificate and enter it on the testing laboratory’s own website rather than the seller’s. The result that comes back should name the same compound and the same batch. If the number does not resolve on the laboratory’s site, the report did not come from them.

What does a Certificate of Analysis actually prove?

It proves that an independent laboratory tested a sample and reports its identity, its purity and its content by mass, tied to one production run on one date. It does not prove that your particular vial came from that run, and it says nothing about safety or suitability for any purpose.

Is Janoshik Analytical independent?

Janoshik Analytical is a third-party analytical laboratory used across the research compound market to test material by HPLC and mass spectrometry. It is independent of the suppliers whose material it tests, and where it provides a verification reference you can confirm a result directly with the laboratory instead of relying on a document supplied by a seller.

Can a fake Certificate of Analysis look real?

Yes. A document can be edited, and a genuine certificate for one batch can be attached to entirely different stock. This is why the verification step matters more than the appearance of the document: a report that cannot be confirmed at the laboratory, or whose batch number does not match the vial, should not be relied on.

What purity should a research peptide certificate show?

A minimum of 99% purity by HPLC is a common benchmark for well-made research material. The figure only means something when identity has also been confirmed by mass spectrometry and the report comes from a named independent laboratory for that specific batch.

Can I verify a certificate from a different supplier here?

Yes. The verification is done on the laboratory’s own website, not ours, so the process is the same whoever supplied the material. We publish this because a market where certificates are checked is a market we would rather compete in.
